Professor Costigliola will speak on his recent book “Kennan: A Life Between Worlds”. As well as covering the tumultuous years of the Cold War and Kennan’s role in formulating the policy of Containment, Costigliola will also speak to Kennan’s writings on the post-Cold War world and NATO’s expansion east. Signed copies of the book will be available for sale at the event.

Frank Costigliola, has been at UConn since 1998. His first book, “Awkward Dominion,” pioneered cultural considerations in foreign relations history. His second, “France and the United States,” explored cultural intersections in post-WWII alliances. His third, “Roosevelt’s Lost Alliances,” delved into personal politics shaping the Cold War’s start.
Costigliola, a renowned lecturer, received fellowships from prestigious institutions, including the Guggenheim Foundation and the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton. In 2009, he served as president for the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations.
