Take a break from all-things-COVID and join us for this engaging talk about boating with author Tom Verde.
Every boat has a story to tell, says the author in his new book, In A Class of Their Own: Unique and Classic Boats of New England (Globe Pequot Press, 2020). The book features nearly forty such stories, including the fabled history of the cat boat; the first fiberglass sailing yacht; a NY ferry boat repurposed as a houseboat; the oldest working fishing boat in Stonington, CT; racing rivalries in the Sound; the French love affair with American boat designs; and the Jazz Age era of luxury yachting, among others. Tom will offer an interactive, online presentation drawn from the pages of the book, including additional photos of many of these unique vessels.
