‘Marine Madness Terny’ Social Media Bracket Highlights 64 Species
Mystic, CT – Even the most casual of fan gets excited for tournament basketball in March and Mystic Aquarium is no exception. In celebration, Connecticut’s iconic attraction is offering a sweet deal to visitors throughout the duration of the tournament. Guests buying tickets online at MysticAquarium.org will save 16% of all admission categories.
Guests won’t find wildcats, bulldogs, tigers or golden gophers while enjoying Mystic Aquarium’s take on the Sweet 16®, but they will experience fan-favorites like belugas, penguins, seals and over 300 species in engaging indoor and outdoor exhibits.
They will find gators and maybe a terrapin. Plus, Mystic Aquarium has plenty of volunteers to make every visit exceptional.
A destination for interactive family-fun, kids and adults alike are immersed in the sights and sounds of marine life at Mystic Aquarium. Scales & Tails, Shark Touch, the Ray Touch Pool and Discover Long Island Sound are just a few of the other hands-on experiences.
“Tournament basketball is really exciting as is,” said Mystic Aquarium’s Social Media Manager, Adam Cilley, “but we think we have a pretty strong line-up of marine life that is worthy of the Sweet 16®, Elite 8® and Final Four ®.”
Starting on March 21, the Marine Madness Terny will take place on Mystic Aquarium’s Instagram stories and fans will be able to vote for their favorite species in head-to-head (or fin-to-fin!) single elimination polls. The Terny, named after the seabirds normally found near the sea, rivers or wetlands, begins with 64 species and takes place until April 8 when the winner is announced.
“Some first round notable matchups include the Japanese spider crab vs. the Halloween crab, crystal jelly vs. blue blubber jelly and piranha vs. American alligator,” added Cilley.
Guests are invited to enjoy everything that is sweet at Mystic Aquarium now through April 8 by purchasing tickets online at
