Farmers Market opens for the season at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital

New London, CT (July 8, 2024) – Once again, Lawrence + Memorial Hospital (L+M) is helping to bring fresh produce to the community with its weekly Farmer’s Market. The stand, featuring fresh fruits and vegetables from Smith’s Acres, will run Friday afternoons from 2 - 5 pm starting July 12.
The Market will be held in parking lot across from the hospital main entrance on Montauk Avenue. The market will be on site every Friday through Oct. 25.
“We know that food insecurity is a big issue in our community, as is access to fresh produce,” said Lindsey Greene-Upshaw, MPH, senior manager, in the Office of Health Equity and Community Impact. “We want to make healthy food easily accessible, so people can pick up produce while passing through the neighborhood or coming to see their physician at L+M Hospital.”
The Farmer’s Market is open to the whole community along with staff, patients and visitors. Cash, credit/debit cards, senior and WIC farmers market program incentives and SNAP/EBT benefits are accepted.
