The Southeastern Connecticut chapter of SCORE, Mentors to America’s Small Businesses, will present a free Small Business Workshop on Tuesday, September 10, 9 - 10:30 a.m. in Old Saybrook. The workshop covers how to "Get Found on Google Search and Maps" and “Reach Customers Online with Google,” presented by Google speaker Sixcia Devine and SCORE mentor Anne Driscoll. The event is co-sponsored by the Old Saybrook Chamber of Commerce.
With Sixcia Devine and Anne Driscoll, attendees will explore Google My Business, a free tool for local businesses who want to connect with customers on Google Search and Maps. You’ll get hands-on help creating or updating your business profile, and will learn how to:
- Create or claim your Business Profile on Google
- Manage your business info across Google Search and Maps
- Use Google My Business to connect with potential customers
- Create a free website using the info from your Business Profile
In addition, this workshop will show you how customers find your business online and how to promote your business using Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Smart Campaigns in Google Ads. You’ll learn about tools to help run your business online, including Google My Business and Google Trends. Discussion will include best practices for:
- Creating a free Google My Business listing
- Improving your website’s visibility in Google’s organic search results, on all devices
- Advertising your business on Google

Presenter Sixcia Devine
Sixcia (pronounced six-see-ya) is a speaker for the Grow with Google partner program. As a recognized and sought-after speaker, she helps businesses and organizations use technology to connect with communities and clients within growth markets. Sixcia is the author of Tapping Into the Hispanic Market: Connect. Engage. Innovate. She writes feature stories for magazines like Cosmo Latina, speaks at universities, business centers, chambers, and non-profit organizations. A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Sixcia has worked and studied at Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government, and has completed graduate work at Schiller International University in Paris, France.
Presenter Anne Driscoll
Anne is a Marketing and E-Commerce veteran who has worked with companies such as Victoria's Secret, Guitar Center, and Filene's Department Store, as well as smaller start-ups, to build integrated online marketing campaigns. Her work over the last decade has focused on marketing, branding for large and small companies, managing digital marketing campaigns, and consulting on strategic growth for small businesses. She serves as a Digital Consultant for The Greatly Agency, the Managing Director of the eCommerce Professionals Association as well as a SCORE mentor in E-Commerce out of the Mystic branch of SCORE SECT.
